Interdisciplinary Resources for Transfer Students | Research Writing Workshop

Research Writing Workshop

(Led by Rasheedah "Laydei" Woodard)

Fall 2009 - Wednesdays, 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Room 160 Cesar Chavez Center

(Research Writing Workshops begin the fourth week of school; the first meeting starts February 11th. Please be on time and consistent as space may be limited.)

Description of Research Writing Workshops

The Research Writing Workshop was developed in the interest of junior transfer students who are immediately required to fulfill upper division course work and engage in intense research while at the same time acclimating to the university campus and academic standards. For students taking a course that requires that they complete an extensive research paper by the later weeks of the semester, the RWW will take students through a step-by-step process to increase research skills and knowledge, introduce students to related services, assist students with time management and idea development, ensure timely as well as quality completion of the assignment and provide students with proof reading from peers. As students approach his/her senior thesis, the RWW will be very instrumental in propelling students to become effective and topnotch researchers within his/her field.

Research Writing Workshop Policies

  • Consistent attendance is required
  • Wait List: Admission to the workshop is on a first come first serve basis. The first fourteen to sign up for each study group will likely receive a slot. All request after the first fourteen will be placed on a wait list.
  • For issues/questions related to the actual research assignment and content, students are advised to meet with the Professor and/or GSI for the course
