Overview of Science Program
What we do
The SLC Science Program offers support for many Science classes. Students are encouraged to work together to achieve academic success.
Kinds of Support
We offer different types of support for students depending on which classes they are taking. For your general information, we have included brief descriptions of the types of support we offer below. But, please select the course you are taking in the list to the right to see what is offered for you.
- Drop-In Tutoring:
Tutors answer questions about lectures, course texts, homework problems, sample exams, and labs. The Science Drop-In Tutoring area is a great place to study and to meet and work with fellow students.
- Study Groups:
The study group leader coaches the group by reviewing course material, answering questions, working examples to illustrate course concepts, providing practice problems for students to work on together, and helping students develop effective study strategies.
- Mock Exams (fall/spring only):
Typically held the weekend before an actual midterm, students at a mock exam will be given a practice exam written by the SLC and about an hour to work on it like it was a real exam. Then, tutors will go over the problems with an emphasis on providing tips on how to approach the real exam.
- Non-credit-bearing course: Chemistry P
