SLC NST 10 Services: Fall 2008

The SLC offers three types of support for students in NST 10:

Drop-In Tutoring

Tutoring Hours:

Mon: 9-2
Tu: 12-3
Wed: 11-12
Th: 2-4
Fri 9-12

Location: Science Drop-in Tutoring Area on the 2nd floor of the Chávez Student Center.

The SLC provides Drop-in tutoring for all students in NST 10. Students can come in and talk to a tutor on a first-come, first served basis. The tutors work with students individually or sometimes in small groups, and can answer questions about lectures, course texts, homework problems, sample exams and labs.

No prior signing up is required for Drop-in tutoring. Just come by! Drop-in tutoring is a great way to meet and work with fellow students as well as to get assistance with your course work.

Mini-Lectures

Typically held during the two weeks before each midterm, Mini-Lectures primarily review course material and stress topics that students consider the most difficult or confusing. Mini-Lectures are 1 hour lectures. There is no sign-up procedure; anyone may attend at any time.

Mini-Lecture Series for Midterm 1 Schedule:

Date Time Topic Leader Room
Th 9/25 11-noon Carbohydrates Kenny C Sci Drop-In
Th 9/25 2-3pm Nutrient Needs and Digestion Jackie G Sci Drop-In
Fri 9/26 2-3pm Nutrient Needs and Digestion Jackie G Sci Drop-In
Fri 9/26 3-4pm Proteins Simon C Sci Drop-In

Mon 9/29 3-4pm Lipids Chris C Sci Drop-In
Tu 9/30 10-11am Carbohydrates Kenny C Sci Drop-In
Tu 9/30 11-noon Lipids Chris C Sci Drop-In

"Sci. Drop-In" refers to the Lecture area in the SLC's Science Drop-in Tutoring area on the 2nd floor of the Chavez Student Center.

Topics are repeated for your convenience, but you only need to attend one lecture per topic to get all of the material. All lectures begin ten minutes after the hour (they are on Berkeley time).

Individual Tutoring
The SLC can sometimes provide a small number of students with weekly 1-on-1 tutors for NST 10. Because of limited resources, we typically do this for students who are having difficulty with the course. If you might be interested in having a weekly meeting with a tutor, please email Richard Gibson at rgibson@berkeley.edu.
