Study Strategies | For Students Experiencing Academic Difficulty
Cal places great demands on students not only academically, but also in a variety of other ways. We, along with our partners in the College of L&S, SLAS, DSP, and CPS, can help you to identify the reasons for your difficulties and overcome them. Students who are on Academic Probation or who simply are not achieving up to their expectations can use the following resources to achieve success.
Drop-in Academic Advice
Sit down one-to-one with a peer who is trained to listen, share experiences and strategies, give advice, and make referrals on a wide array of issues affecting Cal students like you. Get assistance with:
- Time management, procrastination & goal setting
- Learning and study strategies
- Health, well-being and balance
- Personal and social issues

Individual Appointments
Consult with one of the Study Strategies Program coordinators to enhance your skills and strategies as well as develop a plan of action to achieve academic and personal goals. Come in to get assistance with:

- Referrals to other campus resources

Every semester we offer one-and-a-half-hour, hands-on workshops aimed at enhancing your skills and strategies in a variety of academic areas, including:
- Writing
- Reading
- Public speaking
- Lecture note taking

Education 98/198 : Strategies for Success at Cal
In this 2 unit seminar students refine their learning strategies, improve their time management techniques, and learn how to find a healthy balance in the academic, personal and social aspects of their lives.
