Study Strategies | For Freshmen

Making the transition to Cal poses not only academic, but also personal and social challenges for students. You can meet these challenges and thrive at Cal by using any or all of the services mentioned below.

Drop-in Academic Advice

Sit down one-to-one with a peer who is trained to listen, share experiences and strategies, give advice, and make referrals on a wide array of issues affecting Cal students like you. Get assistance with:

  • Time management, procrastination & goal setting
  • Learning and study strategies
  • Health, well-being and balance
  • Personal and social issues

Education 98: Strategies for Success at Cal

This course assists freshmen in making effective personal and academic transitions to university life. By actively engaging in a small group seminar, students enhance their learning strategies, acquire techniques for time management, and learn about campus resources.
