Training & Resources (UCFTR)

What we do

The Undergraduate Course Facilitator Training & Resources (UCFTR) office offers pedagogical support and training to Cal undergraduates interested in or currently facilitating DeCals or other student-initiated courses.

In addition to providing pedagogical support and training, the UCFTR office also serves as a campus liaison and informational resource to students, staff and faculty with questions regarding student-initiated courses.

Kinds of Support and How to Sign Up

• Craft of Facilitating (Ed 97/197, Section 12)
  A semester-long course designed to assist undergraduates with course design, lesson planning, and facilitation.
  
  
• StartUp Workshops
  One-time workshops that address procedural and pedagogical concerns of undergraduates interested in starting a student-initiated course. Click here for more information.
  
  
• Individual or Group Appointments
  Appointments available to undergraduates interested in or currently facilitating a student-initiated course. To arrange an appointment, e-mail the UCFTR coordinator, Elizabeth Keithley, at keithley@berkeley.edu.
  
  
• Classroom Observations
  Classroom observations available to undergraduates seeking support or feedback with their facilitation practice. To learn more about this service or setup a classroom observation, e-mail the UCFTR coordinator, Elizabeth Keithley, at keithley@berkeley.edu.
