Each February, the Student Learning Center celebrates Black History Month—a time to honor the rich history, enduring achievements, and vital contributions of Black Americans. This year is particularly significant as 2026 commemorates the centennial of the Black history movement. The tradition of this celebration began in 1926 when historian Carter G. Woodson envisioned and established "Negro History Week". In 1976, that vision expanded into the month-long national tribute we observe today.
As we enter this month, the Student Learning Center reaffirms our commitment to empowering our campus’ Black scholars and honoring their legacy.
