Course Liaison Application

  • Role & Responsibilities

    • Serve as a liaison between faculty, cluster, and program staff.

    • Attend scheduled course lectures and record notes that identify lectures focuses, as well as areas of student confusion.

    • Disseminate lecture notes, via email and in weekly cluster meeting, to ensure the cluster is up-to-date on course material.

    • Support study group facilitators in designing study group worksheets and agendas that reflect course lectures.

    • Provide Drop-in support to peers enrolled in the course.

    • Facilitate weekly cluster meeting to engage with cluster members in keeping abreast of course material

    • Attend weekly training seminar to explore collaborative peer pedagogy and social issues in science education.

    • Make announcements in lecture to inform students of SLC services throughout the semester.

  • Weekly Time Commitment

    • Attend lecture and office hours (3-3.5 hours/week)

    • Prepare and organize lecture notes for cluster dissemination (1 hour/week)

    • Support study group facilitators in designing study group worksheets (1-3 hours/week)

    • Provide drop-in support (2 hours/week)

    • Prepare for and facilitate weekly cluster meeting (2 hours/week), date and time TBA

    • Attend weekly training seminar (1.5 hours/week), Friday 12-1:30PM

    • Prepare for training seminar (1 hour/week)

Courses availableBiology 1A, Chemistry 1A, 3A, and 3B 

  • Expected time commitment: 12-15 hours/week

  • Compensation rate: $15.11/hour and $17.11/hour

Cluster Lead Application

  • The Cluster Lead position is not available for Fall 2018.

Study Group Facilitator Application

  • Role & Responsibilities

    • Facilitate a study group (2-hour sessions, twice a week) to support peers enrolled in the course.

    • Collaborate with the course liaison and fellow facilitators in designing study group worksheets and agendas.

    • Utilize cooperative learning activities to foster a community where members actively engage in the learning process.

    • Provide drop-in support to peers enrolled in the course.

    • Attend weekly cluster meeting to engage with other cluster members in keeping abreast of course material.

    • Attend weekly training seminar to explore collaborative peer pedagogy and effective facilitation strategies.

    • Encourage students to contact the instructor/GSIs and utilize Drop-in services for further clarification of course material.

  • ​Please Note

    • Study group facilitators do not serve as a replacement for instructors/GSIs and thus do not directly teach or lecture.

    • If study group attendance drops below 10 for 2 consecutive weeks, study group hours will be converted to drop-in service hours.

  • Courses available: Biology 1A/1AL, Chemistry 1A, 3A/3AL, 3B/3BL 

  • Expected time commitment: 14-15 hours/week

  • Compensation rate: $15.11/hour and $17.11/hour
