What We Do

Harnessing the power of collaborative learning, the SLC Economics Program provides tutorial support for all Cal students taking Economics 1, 100A, 100B, 136, 140 and other equivalents. We serve as a platform for students to learn from one another and succeed together. Our services offer you not only the means to achieve content mastery, but also the opportunity to experience an inclusive, dynamic global learning community. Drop-In Tutoring

Stop by to receive support from our friendly tutors on a first-come, first-serve basis.

How to Sign Up

Drop-in starts third week of classes and continues through the last day of instruction. No prior sign-up is required. Simply come to the Economics area in the atrium of the Chavez Student Center, sign in with your SID, and our tutors will work with you.

Drop-in for Spring 2017 begins on Monday 1/30.

Pod Tutoring

This format offers you course-specific support in a small-group setting at the same time each week. You will benefit from working with an attentive and knowledgeable tutor as well as from collaborating with fellow students enrolled in the same course.

Study Group

Study Group provides an inclusive, collaborative, and structured learning space for students to strengthen their grasp of course material. We will review key concepts, practice parallel problems, and cultivate test-taking and time-management strategies to further enhance your success in Econ coursework.

Exam Review

Econ exam reviews are designed in consultation with faculty or head GSIs, and are led by our most experienced tutors. We will practice key problem-solving strategies and go over major course concepts and formulas. Reviews will also cover past exam patterns, as well as time mamagement strategies.

Fall 2016 Offerings

The "Stop Thinking, Start Solving: Tried and True Strategies for Mastering Economics Coursework!" welcome workshop is for students who wish to learn more about how to excel in Economics at Cal. We will address common questions about the major, discuss faculty expectations, and explore key strategies for thriving in Economics courses. Attendees will leave the session not only with a clear sense of the rigor and demands of the major, but also an enhanced understanding of how to become successful in the discipline. The workshop will be held from 4-5 pm on Friday, September 9th in 113 Chavez.
