"From the depth of need and despair, people can work together, can organize themselves to solve their own problems and fill their own needs with dignity and strength." – César Chávez
Today, we honor the legacy of César Chávez and the hundreds of farmworkers who organized, advocated, and sacrificed for better working conditions, fair wages, and fundamental human dignity. Their movement was built on the principles of resilience, unity, and the unwavering belief that collective action can create lasting change.
At the SLC, we take pride in being housed within the César E. Chávez Student Center, a space that aims to carry forward his values of service, solidarity, and justice. His legacy reminds us that education, like organizing, is a communal effort—one that thrives when people come together to uplift and support one another.
