Happy Juneteenth!
On June 19, 1865, over two-and-a-half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was initially issued, it was finally enforced in Galveston, Texas. Since then, this date has been a significant celebration in Black communities in Texas and across the country, symbolizing the enduring spirit of freedom.

We invite you to commemorate Juneteenth with us by learning more about the legacies of slavery, attending local celebrations, and committing to support organizations dedicated to advancing Black humanity.

Please note that the SLC will be closed on Wednesday, June 19, in observance of the holiday. Wishing you a day filled with reflection and celebration!
