The SLC Strategic Learning Program Neurodivergent Student Advisory Board plays a vital role in advancing the program’s mission to empower all students with the strategies, mindset, and skills needed to achieve their academic aspirations and potential. Drawing on their lived experiences, board members provide valuable perspectives that guide the development and refinement of services tailored specifically to the needs of neurodivergent students at UC Berkeley. The board works closely with program leadership to evaluate the accessibility, impact, and relevance of both current offerings and new initiatives. Beyond their advisory role, members serve as critical connectors to the broader neurodivergent community, promoting outreach efforts, amplifying student voices across campus, and fostering meaningful links between neurodivergent undergraduates and campus resources. Ultimately, the board contributes to cultivating a learning culture where neurodivergent students are valued and supported to thrive.

Desired Qualities of Board Members:

  • Ability to clearly articulate their relationship to their neurodivergent identity and how it shapes their academic and student experience.

  • Strong motivation for improving and enhancing the neurodivergent student experience within the Strategic Learning Program and across campus.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and provide thoughtful and constructive feedback. 

  • Alignment with the values of the SLC and the mission and philosophy of the Strategic Learning Program.

  • Previous service on an advisory board is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities of Board Members:

  • Serve a full term during the Spring 2026 semester, from January 19, 2026 through May 15, 2026.

  • Attend regular board meetings with SLC Strategic Learning Program staff, scheduled for 3:30 - 5 pm on the following dates: Jan  22, Feb 19, Mar 19, Apr 23, May 7.

  • Complete any preparation or review activities prior to meetings.

  • Provide guidance to the Strategic Learning Program on future directions and service improvements, informed by lived experience as neurodivergent students at UC Berkeley.

  • Participate in existing and pilot services designed for neurodivergent students, offering feedback and recommendations.

  • Propose ideas to enhance the accessibility, engagement, and appeal of Strategic Learning Program services.

  • Represent the Strategic Learning Program at student forums and campus events focused on the neurodivergent community.

Benefits:

  • A $500 honorarium for each semester of service.

 On average, members can anticipate spending 5 - 10 hours per month on advisory board responsibilities, including monthly meetings.

  • Fill out the SLC Strategic Learning Program Neurodivergent Student Advisory Board Self-Nomination Form.

  • Nominations are reviewed on a rolling basis.

  • Rolling deadlines: October 13, October 20, and October 27.

Request a Recommendation

  • Choose a Faculty member, GSI, or Academic Advisor to submit a nomination recommendation on your behalf.

  • Deadline for recommendation submissions: October 27
