Compensation

Compensation
  • Position pays $18/hour*

*NoteStudents may not be employed by the University more than 50% time during the fall or spring semester in any combination of titles. Students may work up to 100% time during the summer and during the winter break.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Past participation in the Summer Bridge program
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Summer Bridge Program goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated history of serving others
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in virtual and in-person environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to receive and provide feedback
  • Demonstrated experience advocating for educational justice
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment
  • Demonstrated experience working in a service capacity 

Program Requirements for Selected Candidates

  • Ability to commit 10hr/wk* during outreach period beginning April 8th, 2023 (hours available Mon through Fri between 5PM to 10PM; Sat-Sun 12PM to 6PM)
  • Attend training on Fridays 12-2PM* (beginning March 3rd, 2023)

Responsibilities

  • Representing the University of California and the Summer Bridge during campus outreach programs and events (e.g. Cal Day, EOP Fair, and Student Recruitment and Retention Groups). 
  • Speaking with students, parents and extended family members about your Summer Bridge and Cal experiences.
  • Serving on student panels and conducting workshops on behalf of the Summer Bridge program in-person and virtually.
  • Answering questions and addressing concerns of entering students about Summer Bridge and Cal writ large via phone and text messaging.
  • Serving as a resource for entering students by tabling during various campus resource fairs and events.
    Prepare for ambassador training (1-2hrs/wk)

Process

  • Submit a complete application
  • Candidates who submit a complete application and who satisfy the minimum qualifications and program requirements will be invited for an interview
  • Candidates are notified of the results of their applications in writing within one week of their interview
